A newly refurbished library has opened in Enfield this week.
The council’s renovation of Palmers Green Library has taken a year and has involved installing new shelving, furniture, carpets and technology.
An interactive table on each floor now enables library users to call up information by touch to find educational material and games as well as an electronic museum display for local history, Enfield heritage information and quizzes.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony on 21 September marked the opening of the facility.
Councillor Ayfer Orhan, Enfield Council’s cabinet member for education, children’s services and libraries, said: “This library is designed for all ages and interests and forms part of our four flagship libraries across the borough: Ordnance Unity, Enfield Town, Palmers Green and Edmonton Green.
"Set out on two floors, it has an inviting children's section; a teenage area; a community room; innovative technology including interactive tables, a gadget bar with internet access; electronic noticeboards and displays and a full range of materials and items to borrow.
“It is a valued facility where people of all ages can study, use computers, find books, read newspapers and magazines or use the meeting room in a bright, welcoming environment.”
