Colourful crossing for Safe Steps

A unique new colourful crossing installed at Bury Street West in Enfield has been created to provide a safer environment for walking and cycling.

The improved crossing is part of the junction redesign and Cycle Enfield upgrade, which crosses Bury Street West and heads towards the new Salmons Brook path connecting Winchmore Hill with Edmonton.

The environmentally-friendly and skid-proof crossing markings were installed as part of the Safe Steps to School programme, which is a visual road safety scheme for schoolchildren. The improvements will help pupils at Edmonton County School to be safe, and the crossing includes footprints to guide people across the road.

Cycle Enfield encourages residents in the borough to use bike routes to improve health and reduce pollution, to help transform the area’s high streets and town centres.

A second crossing is due to be installed on Westerham Avenue, outside Hazelbury Primary School, in the near future.
