A new brewery is to open in Ponders End; Beavertown is set to create “Beaverworld”, billed as ‘a funfair of fermentation and good times’.
The design of the new brewery will incorporate walkways and gantries to offer visitors an immersive experience as they tour the brewery, and will include a visitor centre with a taproom and fully stocked store.
The 3.5-ha plot is the historic site of the former Ediswan Factory, where the first electronic valves were developed by Sir Ambrose Fleming. In recognition of this, a section of the Ediswan site will be preserved as part of the scheme. The new building will include a five-vessel brewhouse, warehouse and packaging space, logistics hub, visitors centre and offices. It is hoped the project will be complete by October this year and the brewhouse up and running ready to deliver beers by April 2020.
Beavertown intends to retain its current home in Tottenham Hale and eventually aims to run a boat between the two riverside sites.
