Improvement works to stations across the London Borough of Enfield are set to start in May 2015.
The Transport for London project will see upgrade works at Silver Street, Edmonton Green, Bush Hill Park, Enfield Town, Southbury and Turkey Street stations.
More staff will be employed at the stations immediately. Further enhancements will be introduced in the following months, which Enfield Council said would bring each of the stations up to the standards enjoyed by the rest of the Overground network. In 2018, a new fleet of trains will come into operation.
Enfield Council's cabinet member for environment and community safety, Councillor Chris Bond, said: "We don't have great underground links to the centre of London so it's vital our Overground stations are fit for purpose and these improvements will very much improve the environment in our stations and make life easier for travellers.
"We will continue to stand up for the rights of commuters and other travellers to ensure that our residents can get around Enfield and beyond quickly, easily and enjoyably."
