The North Circular Road regeneration project in Enfield has won a regional award for collaboration.
The scheme – a joint venture between Notting Hill Housing Group, Durkan and Martin Arnold Associates – triumphed in the Integration and Collaborative Working category in the Constructing Excellence Awards 2013 for London and the South East of England.
It involved the refurbishment of 257 homes in the area, 50 of which were derelict, and will now be put forward for the National Constructing Excellence Awards at the end of November 2013.
Shaun Sheldrake, construction director at Durkan, said: “The renewal and refurbishment of these properties ended the blight on this two mile stretch of the North Circular Road.
"The exceptional success of the project was due to the high levels of co-ordination and co-operation between client, contractor, subcontractors, TfL, Metropolitan Police, London Borough of Enfield and, most importantly, the local residents."
Local agents have reported a 15% increase in property values of homes adjacent to refurbished dwellings as a result of the work.
"The project is an exemplar regeneration scheme and has given momentum to other improvements in the immediate neighbourhood," added Sheldrake.
