A series of bookable workshops and compost giveaways were held at the LondonWaste EcoPark on Friday, 11 May, to celebrate the 12th annual Compost Awareness Week.
The workshops encouraged residents to have a go at container growing, tour the compost centre and register for a free compost bin, all in line with this year’s theme ‘Give Back to the Earth’.
During Compost Awareness Week, which runs from Sunday, 6 May, to Saturday, 12 May, 2012, LondonWaste Ltd, the North London Waste Authority and London Community Recycling Network partnered up and staged a series of fun composting events in Enfield, Camden and Waltham Forest highlighting the great environmental benefits of composting.
The first event at the EcoPark saw over ninety residents collecting compost and sharing tips and advice on its benefits.
It highlighted the value of growing vegetables, herbs and fruit at home.
